What is Solv Protocol (SOLV)?
Solv Protocol (SOLV) is an on-chain layer designed to let Bitcoin holders enter decentralized finance without selling their assets. Its core product, SolvBTC, is minted against Bitcoin at a 1:1 ratio, giving users a liquid token that can move across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and other networks. This transforms Bitcoin from a static store of value into collateral that can be lent, borrowed, or deployed in yield strategies.
How SolvBTC unifies cross-chain liquidity
Wrapped Bitcoin variants have splintered liquidity across blockchains. SolvBTC consolidates this by letting users deposit BTC or wrapped versions from any supported chain and mint a single, standardized token. That token can then be used across DeFi protocols for collateral, lending, or participating in yield strategies without worrying about which chain the underlying asset sits on.
The Staking Abstraction Layer (SAL) decouples yield execution from core reserve security. SAL runs institutional-grade strategies such as liquid staking and delta-neutral hedging while the Bitcoin in the reserve remains protected by a separate custody layer.
Governance and incentives with SOLV
SOLV is the native token on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Its capped total supply grants holders governance rights over treasury decisions, fee adjustments, and protocol upgrades. Beyond voting, SOLV is distributed as an incentive to liquidity providers and users of yield products, helping deepen the markets where SolvBTC trades.
A decentralized reserve without central custody
For safeguarding Bitcoin on the mainnet, the protocol uses FROST threshold signatures. Instead of trusting a single custodian, signing authority is split among independent nodes. A transaction requires a threshold of signatures, so no single actor can control the funds. This eliminates single points of failure.
Transparency comes from Chainlink Proof of Reserve, which verifies on-chain that the circulating SolvBTC supply matches the actual Bitcoin held in reserve, auditable in real time. Because SAL isolates yield strategies from the reserve, the underlying Bitcoin is not exposed if a strategy underperforms.
