What is Celer Network (CELR)?
Celer Network (CELR) is a communication backbone for separate blockchains, allowing them to transfer value and data without forcing users into fragmented experiences. Instead of hopping between bridges and wallets, the protocol provides a unified layer where moving assets from one network to another or using an application on a different chain happens behind the scenes. Celer targets the core friction in crypto: the isolation of ecosystems across Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and dozens of other networks.
How Celer cBridge Moves Assets
The most visible piece of the network is Celer cBridge, a decentralized and non-custodial bridge connecting over 40 blockchains and layer-2 networks. A user deposit tokens into a smart contract on the source chain, and an equivalent amount of a wrapped token appears on the destination chain almost instantly. The mechanism relies on liquidity pools supported by node operators, not on slow mint-and-burn processes, which keeps transfers fast and minimizes fees. Liquidity providers earn a share of the bridge fees, creating an incentive to keep deep pools available.
Building Cross-Chain dApps with Celer IM
While cBridge handles asset movement, the Celer Inter-chian Messaging (IM) framework handles logic. It lets developers build native cross-chain dApps where a single user action can trigger smart contracts across multiple networks. A DeFi protocol, for instance, could let a user deposit collateral on Ethereum and borrow an asset on Polygon in one click. This framework runs on top of the State Guardian Network (SGN), a proof-of-stake sidechain that validators use to monitor events, reach consensus, and relay messages securely between chains.
What Gives the CELR Token Utility
CELR is the engine that powers this entire system. All transaction and bridging fees within the Celer ecosystem are paid in CELR. The token is also the staking asset for the SGN; validators and delegators stake CELR to secure the network and earn rewards. Additionally, CELR acts as a governance token, giving holders the right to vote on protocol upgrades and parameter changes. With a capped supply of 10 billion tokens, CELR is an ERC-20 asset that is also available on chains like BNB Smart Chain and Arbitrum One through the protocol's own bridging infrastructure.
