What is Optimism (OP)?

The Token House, composed of OP holders, votes on software upgrades and fund distribution. The protocol's most distinct architectural choice is the OP Stack, an open-source blueprint for building interoperable Layer-2 chains. Teams can use this toolkit to launch their own networks without reinventing the underlying infrastructure. What makes this powerful is the concept of the Superchain: a collective of OP Stack-based chains that share a common communication standard. Instead of creating isolated islands, new chains can plug into a larger ecosystem where assets and users can move between them more seamlessly.
