What is Pharos (PROS)?
Pharos (PROS) is a layer-1 blockchain built specifically for bringing real-world assets (RWAs) onchain and running institutional-grade financial applications. Founded in 2024 by former core members of Ant Group's blockchain division, it combines EVM compatibility with a high-throughput architecture designed to bridge traditional finance and crypto-native liquidity.
What roles does PROS play in the network?
PROS is the native token at the center of Pharos' economic design. It covers transaction fees and smart contract execution costs across the network. To secure the chain via the AsyncBFT proof-of-stake mechanism, validators must stake PROS, earning rewards in return. Token holders also have a voice in governance, voting on protocol upgrades and ecosystem fund allocations. Beyond these core functions, PROS serves as the economic coordination layer for Special Purpose Networks (SPNs), binding them to Pharos' shared security.
How Pharos tailors its infrastructure for real-world finance
The network uses a modular design that separates data availability (L1-Base), consensus (L1-Core), and application logic (L1-Extension). This structure aims to lower verifiable storage costs while maintaining high throughput through asynchronous BFT consensus and pipelined parallel processing.
What sets Pharos apart is its approach to compliance. Zero-knowledge KYC and AML checks are embedded directly at the smart contract layer, allowing institutions to meet regulatory requirements without third-party middleware. Developers can deploy Special Purpose Networks for domain-specific tasks—such as privacy-preserving computation or high-frequency DeFi—while still relying on Pharos for security. Dual virtual machine support for both EVM and WASM also lets teams write contracts in Solidity, Rust, or C++, keeping the network accessible to a wide builder base.
